The October 1, 2026 Board of Selectmen meeting for the Town of North Haven considered several capital-project bond authorizations for recommendation to the town meeting. The board approved recommendations for $7 million for Sacket Point Road reconstruction, $2 million for Church Street pedestrian and safety improvements, $3 million for Pool Road drainage improvements, $7 million for town-road milling, paving and drainage, and $800,000 for a connectivity project. The first selectman said the road-paving authorization was not reimbursable and that the other projects were expected to be reimbursable. The board also approved releasing a $3,000 bond for Edible Arrangements and a $3.73 million bond for Center Plan Construction Company. A proposed veterans’ property-tax exemption expansion was advanced for town-meeting consideration.

The board discussed the canceled fire-engine contract, including a $31,294.94 cancellation payment from the contingency line and an approximately $1.251 million purchase commitment. The town attorney advised that the petition seeking a special town meeting on the contract and related spending could not require a meeting on those questions under the town charter; a resident disputed that interpretation, and the transcript does not show a formal board vote on the petition. The board also received an update on Amazon’s proposed drone operations, with the first selectman describing efforts to seek public meetings and raise concerns with state and federal agencies; no procurement action was taken on that issue.
