At the City of Norwalk Economic and Community Development Committee meeting on October 1, 2026, members unanimously approved authorizing the mayor to execute an agreement with SS Utility Group for a Ford bucket truck, at a cost not to exceed $180,000. Staff said they had obtained pricing from multiple companies and compared model years; the selected 2025 truck was less expensive than the cited 2024 model at $189,000 and 2026 model at $218,000. Staff said the additional truck would allow more work to be completed in-house and reduce reliance on contractors.

The committee also unanimously approved an affidavit dedicating 2,651 square feet of city property supporting the Yankee Doodle garage for transportation uses associated with Wall Street improvements; the dedication is tied to a $5.5 million federal community project earmark and a portion of a $3.5 million state Urban Action Grant. Members received an update on the city’s online permitting and licensing system: Mainstar was selected as the vendor, with Barry Dunn serving as a consultant, and staff now anticipate a launch by May 2027 after data conversion, integrations, and testing. The update cited ARPA funding for the initial phase and a separate city capital investment for implementation; anticipated payment-processing savings were not quantified. No vote was taken on the system update.
