The Odenton Town Center Advisory Committee met September 29, 2026, to review implementation of the town center master plan and hear updates from county Recreation and Parks and Transportation officials. Recreation and Parks reported that Phase 1 of Odenton Community Park is under construction, with trails, boardwalks, viewing areas, a gazebo, pavilion, and courts progressing toward a hoped-for opening shortly after the first of the year. Phase 2, including a dog park and amphitheater, has funding for design and permitting but not construction; that work is expected to take about a year, and construction funding may be considered through the FY2028 budget process. Committee members discussed preserving forest and wetlands, adding nature-based educational opportunities, and opportunities for future public input, including through the county’s Land Preservation, Parks and Recreation Plan process.
Transportation officials described active and planned sidewalk, trail, transit-stop, and roadway projects, including improvements associated with MD 175, the North Puxent Road sidewalk, the BWI-to-Odenton Trail, and Safe Routes to School. They noted that the county has sought federal grants for transit-stop upgrades and needs additional funding for transit operations and capital improvements. The county’s Odenton parking garage was listed at approximately $57 million in this year’s budget, with a groundbreaking planned. Separately, the committee received notice that a state placemaking grant had been awarded, with approximately $61,000 allocated for branding and street banners and $38,000 for public art, events, or space activation; implementation and community outreach are planned. No contract awards, vendor selections, or procurement-related votes were reported.
