The Greenwich Representative Town Meeting met on September 28, 2026. The RTM approved a $799,200 appropriation for Greenwich Avenue/Railroad Avenue traffic-signal improvements, by a vote of 165–11 with one abstention. The project is supported by state grant funding; the appropriation includes an additional $141,547 for work potentially not covered by the grant and a contingency. The town expects to bid the work in spring 2027, with construction anticipated in summer or fall 2027. The committee discussion covered ADA-compliant signals, emergency-vehicle preemption, and vehicle and pedestrian detection that would not record footage or collect personally identifiable information. A separate $34,487.42 grant item passed on the consent calendar, although the transcript does not clearly identify its purpose.
The RTM also approved appointments to the Greenwich High School Natatorium, Tennis and Access Driveway Building Committee, which will oversee a project addressing the pool, tennis courts, and site access. Members cited $4 million in previously approved architectural and engineering funding and raised concerns that delaying the committee could increase project costs; the appointments were approved individually. The meeting also approved a historic-property designation for town-owned parkland and discussed a proposed change to RTM meeting start times. No contract award or vendor selection was recorded.
