Charter Review Committee - 9/30/2026

The Town of Bridgewater, Massachusetts Charter Review Committee met on September 30, 2026. The committee approved prior meeting minutes and reviewed preliminary results from its citizen survey. The snapshot showed 163 responses before residency validation and final survey closure; members discussed reported concerns about town communication, opportunities for public input, familiarity with the charter, and the town’s form of government. The committee plans to validate and anonymize responses and review the complete results at a future meeting. Members also discussed completing stakeholder interviews and organizing public letters and recommendations for consideration during the charter review.

The committee discussed its review schedule and agreed by motion to meet October 14 and 28; November 4 and 18; December 2 and 16; January 6 and 20; and February 3 and 17. The planned work includes reviewing survey data and charter articles, with a final review and presentation to Town Council anticipated later. A member also volunteered to research communication practices in comparable communities. No procurement, contract awards, purchasing decisions, or spending actions were identified.
