The Town of Bridgewater Board of Health met on September 30, 2026. The board received an update that the Health Agent position is being recruited for and that Halifax Public Health Excellence Group is temporarily supporting inspections, septic and plan reviews, and related work; some turnaround times are longer, but no major service interruptions were reported. The board voted to continue appointing the Massachusetts Health Officers Association as the town’s tobacco inspection agent. MHA conducts inspections and compliance checks, while the town retains enforcement responsibility; the arrangement is supported by funding in place through FY2028. No contract value was stated.

The board also voted to authorize a backup Maven user through the Halifax Public Health Excellence Group, with Kathy Evans identified for backup communicable-disease reporting coverage and possible additional nursing and health-education support as needed. The chair will email the state to request her access. Members were also told that the regional group had released a couple thousand dollars to Bridgewater for unforeseen emergency needs; no specific spending plan was discussed. The next meeting was set for October 28, 2026.
