The Porter County Government Park Board met on October 1, 2026. The board unanimously approved a $15,000 budget transfer from salaries to support seasonal maintenance staff through the remaining six pay periods of the year. Staff reported that approximately $220,000 in proceeds from the completed 700 House closing had been deposited and that quotes were being gathered for electrical work with NIPSCO, a well, road and parking-lot expansion, and a third cabin. The road work is expected to wait until spring; no vendor awards or final project costs were reported. The county had also approved sending storm-debris pickup out to bid, while parks staff were obtaining contractor quotes for hazardous tree removal and bids from alternative trash contractors after the current vendor raised fees.

The board heard that a $15,000 Anderson Foundation grant had been requested for ADA improvements at Brink Cross, including a walkway and ramp. The capital campaign had raised about $130,000 toward a $250,000 goal, with additional donor requests and grant opportunities being pursued. The board also discussed ongoing negotiations over a proposed property donation for a future park and trail connection, and future facility, shelter, and trail projects; these were not reported as procurement awards. No other purchasing approvals were identified.
