Davidson County Commissioners meeting, October 1, 2026: The board discussed a proposed countywide network-switch replacement and directed staff to develop an RFQ for supplemental BLS ambulance transport. The switch project would replace about 85 aging devices and upgrade wireless equipment, using Extreme Networks products quoted through Data Network Solutions under the state’s 204X contract. The estimated cost was approximately $1.223 million, with seven years of support; state IT approval had been obtained. Staff said the funds could come from capital reserves and savings from radio purchases, and proposed bringing a budget amendment to the next meeting. No purchase award or final budget amendment was approved at this meeting. For BLS service, commissioners supported preparing an RFQ promptly, while leaving the number of vendors, payment terms, and franchise-agreement details for further work and later board review.

The Davidson County ABC Board reported distributing funds to the county, schools, and law enforcement and said it was seeking sites for two additional stores; a potential Wallburg-area site was dropped after DOT-related turn-lane costs made the project uneconomical. Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas presented plans for proposed generation and LNG facilities, including a stated investment of more than $2 billion for the LNG project, and answered questions about grid impacts, safety, land preservation, and community engagement; these were presentations, not county contract awards. Commissioners also discussed proposed data-center zoning standards and the forthcoming update to the county land development plan. No other procurement award was identified.
