The New Hanover County Planning Board held public hearings on October 1, 2026, and indicated that its agenda items would proceed to the County Commissioners’ meeting tentatively scheduled for November 16. The board recommended approval of a 1.15-acre conditional rezoning to add a bank or financial institution to the permitted uses, retaining existing limits including no drive-through. It also recommended approval, on a 4–1 vote, of a 2.62-acre rezoning for a contractor laydown and outdoor storage yard on Blue Clay Road, subject to stated use and site conditions. Staff had recommended continuing that application to allow more time to review access concerns; the applicant addressed the concerns during the hearing, and board members discussed NC-DOT access and CFPUA’s easement.
