The North Little Rock School District Board held a workshop and special meeting on October 1, 2026. The workshop focused primarily on Arkansas School Board Association training about licensed and classified personnel policy committees, their membership and duties, and statutory procedures for proposing and adopting personnel policies. The presenters explained that board-proposed policy changes generally require at least 10 workdays of committee review, and discussed policy effective dates and the risks of changes made after May 1. The board also received information about the annual school election: the current 52.3-mill tax levy (25 mills for maintenance and operations and 27.3 mills for debt service) and projected 2028–29 expenditures are to be presented for voter approval; the projections are nonbinding. No vote on those election resolutions occurred at this meeting, and the district may avoid opening polling places if there is no millage increase or other election matter, reducing election costs.

At the special meeting, the board unanimously adopted business policies that staff said were needed for a grant application because the district could not locate the policies’ adoption dates. The board also approved the nomination of Dr. Rochelle Reddiss as the ASBA Region 8 Director, and approved personnel employment following executive session. No contract awards, vendor selections, bids, or capital purchases were identified.
