The Manalapan-Aberdeen Regional School District Board of Education’s September 28, 2026 regular action meeting included several spending and facilities matters. The board approved the curriculum and instruction, student services, policy, and finance agendas by roll call, with all recorded votes in favor. The curriculum discussion covered a temporary asynchronous American Sign Language course for students while the instructor is absent. Administrators said the $22,000 cost covers the period of the absence and was the lowest of three quotes; a certificated substitute will supervise the classroom, and the arrangement is intended as a temporary alternative to canceling the course. The finance agenda also included a revision to a tuition contract that increases enrollment from 107 to 122 students, a $500 donation from Atlas Healthcare for back-to-school supplies, and a grant application expected to reimburse about $5,800 for the lead-filter program.
The finance committee reported that new high school media furniture had arrived and was being installed, and that Aberdeen Township helped fund paving and striping at Lloyd Road, saving the district money. The district estimates Lloyd Road playground rubber flooring will cost about $80,000, plus $10,000 for fencing; other playground replacements could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars as the district plans for a state mandate. The committee also reported 196 facility repairs completed since the prior meeting and said work is underway on the 2027–28 budget, including review of insurance costs. The board president noted a state health-benefit premium increase averaging 34%, while the district’s own cost impact remained unknown. No vendor award or bid approval was identified.
