The Rochester School Board’s Operations and Finance Committee meetings were held September 3, 2026. Facilities staff reported that Phase 1 of the sports complex was substantially complete, with two punch-list items, and outlined Phase 2 planning: a softball press-box replacement estimated at $240,000, with construction options under evaluation and design-build proposals being solicited for one option; and a main-gate project estimated at $260,000, with further detailing underway and construction targeted for fall 2026. A digital sign at Spalding was being manufactured. The district also completed building-system assessments and plans to present three long-term capital-planning options, potentially supporting a 10-year facilities plan and future city funding requests. No construction contract award or project-spending approval was reported.
Finance staff said regular, vocational, athletic, and co-curricular bus-service contracts were largely or fully encumbered for the year, and reported that 16 contracted paraprofessionals had been added to help maintain student services while vacancies are filled. The committee reviewed the $78 million appropriation, grant activity, and a projected $1.3 million in additional state adequacy funding, which could affect the city tax cap and district budget planning. Members also discussed possible changes to bus schedules and access to breakfast, but took no related spending action. Motions passed to accept four resignations, approve stipends, and accept and distribute $13,334.71 in donations to five schools.
