At the October 1, 2026 Northampton County Council meeting, members approved several spending and contracting actions. Council authorized a five-year lease, from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2031, for a DUI processing center at 4379 Easton Avenue in Bethlehem Township at $3,000 per month, and waived the requirement for two appraisals. The resolution passed 8–0. Council also approved $575,300 in 2026 public safety grants for 42 projects, authorizing grant agreements up to the approved amounts; the committee had received requests totaling more than $708,000. A Livable Landscapes partnership with the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor for historic and cultural education was approved at $50,000 annually for 2027–2029, also by an 8–0 vote.
Council approved a budget amendment and a personnel resolution downgrading a Fiscal Affairs communications manager position (salary $79,431) to a communications specialist position (salary $54,962), effective September 18; the recorded vote on the latter was unanimous. The County Executive reported that the proposed 2027 budget would be released the following day, and that Public Works was receiving proposals for engineering design of a roof-mounted solar array at the Archives Building, with construction anticipated in spring. A grant application was also being prepared for a WanderGuard Blue or comparable resident-safety system at Gracedale. In a liaison report, a housing authority sinkhole repair estimated at $316,438.52 was raised as a funding and resident-impact concern; no council funding action was reported.
