At the October 1, 2026 meeting of the Washington County Board of Commissioners, the board approved several procurement and spending items. It renewed the as-needed paint and plaster contract for county buildings with Steel City Plastering for October 2026–September 2027, and approved Alert Media’s two-year agreement renewal ($8,381.41 for the first year, with a 3.9% increase in the second). Other approvals included $8,000 for Gannett Fleming to inspect 10 county dams; 25 HP ProBook laptops from GDC IT Solutions for $48,176.25 using CIS grant funds; Motorola Solutions public-safety consoles for $1,932,917.54; and $1,274,418 in contracted service authorizations with Tower Services Unlimited. The board also approved an agreement with Hills-KS Engineering for special inspections and quality-control services for the new public safety building, funded from project reserves including GO bond funds; the transcript’s stated amount is garbled. It authorized advertising bids for the Tri-State building roof and paving repairs, acknowledged a bridge-project construction plan that would allow bidding, approved $284,653 in HUD-funded provider agreements, and approved other service and grant-related agreements, including items requiring no county funds. A $2,128 legal-services invoice was also approved.

By a 2–1 vote, the commissioners approved withholding hotel-tax revenues normally paid to the Washington County Tourism Agency until it provides requested annual reporting and supporting financial documents. A planning-commission submission with its required match funded by fair gas lease and Act 13 Greenways monies was also approved. During public comment, a resident raised concerns about a reported $600,000 Somerset Township water-extension grant and a possible change to the project route; commissioners offered to help direct her to the appropriate parties, but no board action on the matter was recorded.
