The Fairfield Board of Selectpersons held a special meeting on October 1, 2026, and unanimously approved (3–0) authorizing the purchasing authority to enter an agreement with Priority Landscaping LLC for the Funkus Hill project. The agreement, based on the vendor’s July 15, 2026 submission, is for $1,756,300, including the base bid and add alternates, with change orders permitted up to the project’s available funding. Town staff said the initially selected low bidder requested to withdraw so it could focus on the Fairchild Wheeler flood-mitigation project, where work has begun; Priority Landscaping was qualified, ready to start, and close in price to the original bid. The town cited the need to avoid further delay.

The board also discussed recent flooding and concerns about storm-drain maintenance, resident reports, limited DPW capacity, and a vacuum truck that was out of service before a recent storm. Staff described ongoing reviews of reported problem areas and coordination with town boards and engineering. A selectperson voiced support for considering additional departmental staffing, but no staffing or additional spending decision was made at this meeting.
