Bedford Public Schools Board of Education meeting, October 1, 2026. No contracts, bids, or purchases were approved. The superintendent said the facilities department was closing out major projects and obtaining proposals for new projects. The district is also seeking a replacement van for student programs, but the superintendent reported that suitable 10-passenger vehicles are difficult to find because current state requirements call for a vehicle factory-designated for 10 passengers or fewer. Staff are exploring used-vehicle options and have contacted a state representative; no purchase request or spending amount was presented. The superintendent noted enrollment was 21 students above the prior year’s level at that point, compared with a budget assumption of a 50-student decline, and said the district’s audit was progressing, with a full report expected at the November meeting.

The board approved the superintendent’s mid-year evaluation progress report, acknowledged an employee’s tenure, and approved a personnel action after discussion; these were not procurement decisions. It also approved the first reading of Policy Volume 40, No. 1, with a second reading planned for the next meeting. Other updates covered school programs, a planned emergency-response exercise, and upcoming facilities proposals; no procurement vote or funded project approval was identified.
