The Washtenaw County Commission on Aging’s February 2026 meeting focused on senior services, housing needs, and planning for the county’s older-person millage. A Meals on Wheels representative described a joint provider request for an additional $5 per meal from millage funding, and the new director of Aging Services estimated that supplemental nutrition funding totals about $911,000. The representative also reported that fundraising would support purchase of another van and launch of an eighth route; this was not a county purchasing decision. The commission discussed involving its members in shaping millage priorities and ensuring the funding process is transparent and equitable.

A presentation on older-adult housing highlighted affordability pressures, gaps in subsidized housing—particularly in northern parts of the county—and existing millage-supported home-repair and crisis-intervention programs. Members discussed a forthcoming RFP process for millage funds, recommending program evaluation and oversight alongside financial monitoring; no RFP, award, or spending motion was approved. The commission was told that three of its members would serve on the older-person millage review committee. It also approved the 2025 annual report, subject to a committee-list correction, and adopted its 2026 goals, including broader community outreach and collaboration.
