The Kenner City Council’s October 1, 2026 meeting included several procurement and capital-project actions. The council approved a $75,000 annual-limit agreement with Elos Environmental LLC for environmental services; a $64,875 bid to New Works LLC for the Office of Motor Vehicles roof; a $56,765 purchase of 20 Microsoft Surface laptops through SHI International under a state contract; a $500,000 annual-limit agreement with DXP Enterprises for wastewater pumps; and a $95,937.95 truck purchase from ITA Truck Sales and Service. It also approved Pelican Events LLC staffing for Pontchartrain Convention and Civic Center game-day events, up to $300,000 annually, with the costs passed through to the Squadron. State aid agreements provided up to $500,000 for Kenner Police Department body cameras and technology, and up to $3 million for police protective gear, technology, and facility needs. A separate change order of $659,852.83 was discussed, including mold-remediation work and a new exterior entrance at the convention center. These items passed 7–0.
The council approved, 6–1, the sale of unimproved portions of 29th Street and Lexington Street for $137,326, the appraised value, to support a proposed hotel development; the purchaser is also to construct and dedicate the remaining portion of Lexington Street. Councilmember Dunn opposed, citing concerns about selling street access and the proposed use for hotel parking. The council also approved zoning changes related to previously sold right-of-way parcels. Additional procurement measures introduced for first reading included a $192,500 increase for engineering and inspection services on wastewater lift-station upgrades, up to $150,000 annually for wastewater electrical conduit, and a $1 million state agreement for planning and construction of a replacement fire station. The mayor reported that DOTD had bid the Williams Boulevard North overlay and signal upgrades; council discussion also noted a planned second phase of Roosevelt Boulevard panel replacements estimated at $2.1 million, with bidding anticipated before year-end.
