The City of Pleasant Hill Traffic Safety Commission met on October 6, 2026. Staff presented the draft 2026 citywide speed survey, covering 40 roadway segments. Eight segments could qualify for a five-mile-per-hour increase under the survey results, but staff and consultant DKS recommended no speed-limit changes, citing roadway conditions, nearby schools and land uses, and other factors. The discussion item will go to the City Council for adoption; no commission vote was taken. Staff also reported that grant applications for projects on Monument Boulevard, Coggins Drive, and Contra Costa Boulevard (CCB) were progressing through review, and that the flashing-beacon project was about 93% complete. The Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) plan is scheduled for City Council review on November 16.

Public speakers raised concerns about speeding, pedestrian safety, crosswalks, and requests for traffic-calming measures on Boyd Road, Strand Avenue, and Pleasant Hill Road. Staff agreed to review prior records regarding a possible Boyd Road crosswalk and report back; staff also said the Cleveland Road/Crescent Plaza intersection was already under review, with minor improvements planned. The police report noted grant funding had supported officer radar/LIDAR training and new enforcement equipment, though no amount or vendor was identified. The August 4 meeting minutes were approved with a minor correction. No contract awards or procurement votes were identified.
