The City of Sacramento Budget and Audit Committee met on June 3, 2025, to discuss Measure U advisory recommendations and proposed adjustments to the FY2025–26 budget. The committee received and discussed recommendations concerning homelessness services and safe-ground locations, police vacancies and alternative services, participatory budgeting, youth programs, DEI staffing, and crime prevention. Staff noted that $1.3 million for youth programs had already been restored and that DEI funding was being sustained. The committee received the Measure U item and provided direction; no vote was taken on it. Speakers also advocated for continued funding for community programs, including the Fuel Network, and for maintaining public-safety staffing, but the transcript does not establish a separate funding decision on those requests.

Finance staff presented more than $3 million in budget restorations and technical adjustments, leaving an estimated positive FY2025–26 General Fund forecast of roughly $500,000 against a budget exceeding $850 million. The financing plan included use of a federal funding reserve and projected fund balance, approval of a Measure L allocation for a library project to free General Fund resources, and other adjustments. Technical changes included maintaining mowing service levels and road medians; the mayor also noted the parking program’s return to the budget. The committee unanimously approved the budget-adjustment motion. Staff proposed bringing a focused review of long-term vacancies and outyear budget balancing to the committee in the fall. No contract awards, bids, or vendor selections were identified.
