DeKalb Central Schools board work session, September 30, 2026: The board reviewed the district’s budget and property-tax revenue outlook, including the estimated effects of state tax credits under SEA 1. Staff estimated the credits would reduce revenue by about $783,000 this year and discussed an operations levy request of roughly $11.5 million gross versus about $8.5 million in expected net property-tax revenue. The discussion also covered use of cash reserves, rising operating costs, and anticipated education-fund pressure as local income-tax revenue phases out. No budget or spending vote was taken during the session; budget approval was expected at a later meeting.
The board also discussed health-benefit procurement: requests for quotes had been received for the district’s self-insured medical plan, stop-loss coverage, provider network, and pharmacy-benefit services. Staff and consultants will compare costs, claims experience, employee impacts, and provider access, with Parkview required to remain in any option; a recommendation and board vote were planned for October 20. Options discussed included Anthem and TrueScripts, with other pharmacy and stop-loss proposals also under review. On facilities, members reviewed active pavilion, door, HVAC, and other maintenance work and discussed longer-term priorities such as media centers; no new project award or purchasing vote was identified.
