The Dunwoody City Council held a special-called FY2027 budget retreat on September 30, 2026. Staff presented a proposed $64.4 million all-funds budget, including $40.9 million in general-fund expenditures and a projected $2.8 million use of fund balance. The proposal assumes 1% revenue growth, 2% property-digest growth, a 3.6% pay increase, and an 8% health-insurance increase. Major contracted-service budgets include approximately $2.5 million for Lowe/McKay services and $2.8 million for Triscapes, each with a roughly 3% increase. Police capital requests included six replacement Explorers at about $450,000, while a potential radio-system upgrade costing close to $1 million was raised for future consideration, not requested in the FY2027 budget. The technology budget was presented at about $3.9 million, with staff citing rising equipment and service costs. No procurement awards or spending motions were approved; the votes recorded were procedural recess, resumption, and adjournment motions.

Council discussed capital-project funding and priorities, including Homecoming Park, for which $5 million had been allocated but updated estimates could approach $6.5 million; staff will return with a detailed cost breakdown. A proposed SWAT storage facility was estimated at about $1.5 million, with possible funding from existing SPLOST allocations and proceeds from a prior property sale discussed, but no final funding decision was made. Council also asked staff to review police-vehicle replacement intervals, examine alternatives for radio coverage, and continue assessing capital-project balances and priorities. The proposed budget is to proceed through public hearings and consideration in November. No policy or procurement decisions creating new vendor opportunities were adopted.
