The San Mateo County Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission met on September 29, 2026. The commission reported that service providers had been selected through a prior RFP process; no new award, contract approval, or purchasing vote was presented. The chair also reported that the county expects to receive more than 20% less state funding this year for its secure track youth facility. A public speaker described a proposed scholarship for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated youth, with $1,000 in initial funding secured, and sought the commission’s help with outreach, eligibility verification, and potential mentorship. The County Office of Education reported a filmmaker partnership funded through Proposition 28, with a student film project and mini-festival planned by the end of December.

The commission unanimously approved its agenda and prior meeting minutes and approved a recommendation to appoint a new youth commissioner. Members also discussed partner relationships, a proposed commission survey, implementation of a youth transition-to-school plan, and upcoming facility and education inspections. No new procurement action or spending approval was taken during the meeting.
