The Fire Department reported receiving notice of an approximately $165,000 federal fire grant to replace three LifePak cardiac monitors/defibrillators and a $100,000 port security grant for an underwater search-and-rescue robot; the department said these items would come before the Finance Committee and Council once approvals are complete. It also reported state grant funding for new EMS vehicles and an incoming fireboat. The Knights of Columbus presented a donation to the Annapolis Police Foundation; no amount was stated. No contract awards or vendor selections were identified.
The committee received updates on the Police Department’s summer crime plan and the Office of Emergency Management’s cooling- and warming-center operations and winter-weather preparations. The committee voted to give favorable recommendations to legislation removing certain West Annapolis streets from Residential Parking District 5 and to driveway-parking legislation as amended; the latter includes a time-limited exception for specified Ward 8 streets and an appeal process. The agenda was amended by vote to add the Police Foundation item. No other procurement activity was identified.
