The Municipality of Anchorage held a work session on October 2, 2026, with the Anchorage Park Foundation to review its work and discuss priorities for the Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The Foundation reported raising $53 million in funding and volunteer time over 22 years and helping mobilize $77.85 million in local park bonds, which unlocked more than $40 million in federal matching funds. It outlined 2027 priorities including an Indigenous Place Names plaza, trail connections, tree planting, inclusive playgrounds, and support for the annual park bond. The Foundation also requested continued Assembly partnership on park advocacy, programming, fundraising, and state and federal funding requests.
