The Will County Planning and Zoning Commission held a special meeting on September 29, 2026, replacing its September 1 regular meeting. No procurement awards, solicitations, or purchasing decisions were identified. The Commission approved several land-use requests: a variance allowing a five-acre A1 lot to meet minimum lot-area requirements for a home; two variances increasing accessory-building limits from 3,000 to 5,360 square feet and 5,975 square feet; and a side-yard setback variance for a deck. It also approved a map amendment from A2 to C4 and three special-use permits for existing businesses, including landscaping, equipment rental, and portable-lavatory assembly. Some approvals proceeded despite staff recommendations for denial.

The Commission’s proposed approval of two co-located, five-megawatt commercial solar facilities on an 80-acre site failed on a 2–3 vote; the matter was scheduled for further consideration by the county’s Land Use and Development Committee and County Board. The developer described a $100,000 commitment to the New Lenox Fire Protection District and estimated project-related property and sales tax revenue, but these were not procurement actions. Public comments focused on residential compatibility, traffic, drainage, noise, wildlife, and potential effects on property values and wells.
