The Schwarz Creek Community Schools Board of Education met on September 30, 2026. Its principal procurement action was approval of bond-funded renovations at four elementary schools, using recommended contractors selected through public bidding; the presenters said the recommendations reflected the lowest bidders, with a mix of union and non-union firms. The Deak Elementary project was approved at a not-to-exceed cost of $938,583.86, and the Gaines Elementary project at $860,334.20; both passed 5–2. The Elms Road project was approved at a not-to-exceed $1,971,686.82, and the Sirene project at approximately $1.173 million (the amount is garbled in the transcript). The board clarified that these projects are funded from the 2024 bond, correcting an initial reference to 2025. Contractor recommendations included J. Perez Construction, HMC Mason Contractors, Division 7 Builders, Integrity Interiors, Cones Commercial Flooring, R&G Painting, Advanced Mechanical Group, and Great Lakes Power & Lighting, among others. Contractors will be required to complete background-check documentation, with site access monitored during summer work.
Other facilities and purchasing matters included a committee-reported snowplow purchase of about $13,421, to be funded partly from the $12,700 sale of an older truck; a proposed five-year fire-safety service agreement with National Time Signal, with the quoted annual amount unclear in the transcript; and a roughly $3,800 district survey proposal. HVAC proposals were not ready, and quotes were still awaited for drain repairs; pool renovations remained under review. The board also approved an employee credit-card process. It rejected a proposal for a letter of intent concerning a potential future sale of 30 feet of district property, leaving any future offer to be considered separately. No final action was recorded on the pending facilities proposals or the service agreement.
