The City of Greenbelt City Council’s September 30, 2026 work session with the Community Relations Advisory Board (CRAB) covered multilingual welcome signs, the community questionnaire, the community pledge, the library StoryWalk, and outreach strategies. For signage, participants discussed static versus digital options, possible locations, language data, accessibility, operating costs, and coordination with the Advisory Planning Board’s wayfinding work. Staff and council were asked to explore cost comparisons and possible grant or partnership funding; no purchase, budget allocation, or contract was approved. The community questionnaire discussion included a possible shorter, largely digital survey and professional survey assistance, with CRAB asked to prepare draft priority questions by early spring. A potential $10,000 survey service was mentioned as an outside example, not as a city proposal or commitment.
The board and council also discussed bringing CRAB’s revised community pledge to a future council agenda, and retaining the ARPA-funded StoryWalk subject to addressing safety, layout, and maintenance concerns and clarifying the library system’s responsibilities under its MOU. CRAB was encouraged to coordinate outreach with existing community events and advisory groups. The mayor stated that work sessions do not take votes or formal action; no procurement awards or spending decisions were identified.
