The Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union Board of Directors met on September 23, 2026. The board unanimously approved a purchase of 725 student Chromebooks through GovConnection, with the motion recorded as “$212,625.25.” The devices will replace aging equipment in the districtwide fleet. The presenter said the district delayed its purchase after a June RFP produced a price of $415 per device and reported that waiting resulted in substantial savings; the transcript’s discussion of the savings is unclear. Board members discussed fleet size, replacement cycles, funding through the districts, and whether future technology needs should be reassessed before budget season.
The board also discussed a proposed superintendent evaluation service from the Vermont School Boards Association, quoted at $2,500, but no approval is recorded. Members discussed possible funding models for a regional shared-services organization (CISA), with no budget decision made. The board approved superintendent goals, including community input on merger-study and budget priorities and development of a performance dashboard. A proposed policy on the role and adoption of board policies was not adopted; members sought further discussion and legal guidance. No other procurement awards or purchasing approvals were identified.
