Grant County Drainage Board meeting, September 29, 2026: The board approved routine claims and payments, including several drainage-related repair and excavation expenses. For the Little Newby project, it accepted Kane Brothers’ bid of $39,816.85 for dredging; the transcript also references earlier brushing quotes of $22,743 and $48,137.50. The board approved up to $10,000 from the Echelbacher Circle fund to hire Scott Rogers to prepare engineering plans and bid specifications for a first-stage reconstruction, with a preliminary construction estimate of up to $149,000. The plans are to come back to the board for review before bidding. The board also set a Jefferson Ditch hearing for November 10.
The board discussed, but did not authorize spending for, proposed Long Branch tile work and Elliott Tile tracing and locating; staff were directed to seek quotes for the Elliott work. A solar company may contribute $50,000 to the Long Branch fund after its project receives approvals. Back Creek maintenance and a possible assessment increase were discussed, with further cost estimates and mapping needed before a public hearing. The board approved a limited easement reduction for an existing building on the Thompson Ditch, while a request concerning a second building was not approved at this meeting.
