Centennial School District 28J held a board retreat on August 12, 2026. DLR Group, the district’s facilities-planning consultant, updated the board on its long-range facilities planning process, including community engagement, enrollment and building-capacity analysis, and remaining workshops. The plan is expected to be completed by the end of December and brought to the board for review and approval in winter; it may inform a potential May 2028 bond, which the board has not approved. Discussion included a possible near-term investment of roughly $20–30 million, potentially with a state match, but no allocation or spending decision was made.

The consultant gave preliminary construction benchmarks of about $50–60 million for a new elementary school, $100 million for a middle school, and $150 million for a high school; an elementary gut renovation was estimated at $15–20 million, with construction costs generally around $500–600 per square foot before some site-development costs. Participants discussed prioritizing aging building infrastructure, renovations, classroom improvements, CTE needs, and better use of existing spaces, while considering enrollment shifts and long-term facility needs. No contract award, bid approval, or other procurement action was identified; the only vote recorded was approval of the meeting agenda.
