At its August 19, 2026 meeting, the Roseburg Schools Board approved a 10-year athletic complex sponsorship agreement with the Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians, effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2036. The agreement provides $500,000 in total contributions: annual payments of $40,000 for improvements, operations, or maintenance of the Roseburg High School athletic complex, and $10,000 for academic opportunities and student enrichment. The tribe will pay for signage, with its size and placement to be mutually agreed upon. The motion passed; no specific construction contract or vendor award was identified. The board also approved an adjusted 2026–27 meeting calendar and dates for board-superintendent check-ins. Updated student fees, including food service, were presented, but the transcript does not record a vote on them.
In the work session, district leadership discussed implementing the board’s strategic plan, with priorities including literacy, math, graduation pathways, attendance, and family and community engagement. The superintendent said the district would target 5% growth in literacy, math, and attendance, and described leadership coaching and a yearlong focus on building trust. No additional procurement actions were identified.
