The Corvallis School District Board meeting on September 10, 2026, included a discussion of possible pension obligation bonds with Piper Sandler. The presentation reviewed the district’s existing PERS side accounts, projected to run out around 2028, and the risks and potential savings of issuing new bonds. No decision to issue bonds was made; staff described a possible board resolution as nonbinding authorization to continue considering them, with a market-based go/no-go decision anticipated in November. The district has paid $2,500 for an EcoNorthwest assessment, and the presenter said most other transaction fees would be incurred only if bonds are sold. The board requested the assessment and additional information about the pool and assumptions.

In consolidated action, the board approved the agenda items with an amendment clarifying three budget committee vacancies. Those items included a technical supplemental-budget correction and ratification of an emergency procurement for a water-line leak affecting a school’s fire-suppression system. The repair was already completed by a district contractor and was estimated at about $70,000; insurance does not cover the damage. The superintendent agreed to share the final cost when available. The meeting also noted that local option levy Measure 2-160 is up for renewal, and community members urged more detailed public accounting of levy spending and proposed an oversight committee; board members requested follow-up information. The superintendent reported that the district received over $1 million in E-rate support over the past five years and said the FCC is reviewing the program.
