GPSD Parent Advisory Council meeting (recording titled September 3, 2026; metadata lists September 9, 2026). District staff reviewed facilities funding and capital work. They reported about $55 million in capital improvements over the prior six years, including work funded through grants and full-faith-and-credit financing, and noted a roughly $700,000 elementary language-arts curriculum purchase. Staff also described a proposed bond of just under $10 million, estimated at 10 cents per $1,000 of assessed value, which would qualify the district for an $8.1 million Oregon School Capital Improvement Match grant. Proposed work includes air conditioning at several schools, roof replacements, Redwood pickup and parking improvements, Riverside restroom upgrades, softball-field turf, and building-entry, ceiling, and flooring improvements. The district said projects would require engineering and procurement processes and would be phased over time; a community oversight group was proposed to monitor spending and value for money.
The council discussed factual, non-advocacy communications about the proposed bond and possible information-sharing at school events. No bond or procurement vote was taken by the council. Other topics included alternative and online learning, summer programs, attendance communications, and preschool expansion; the preschool program’s staffing and materials are primarily supported by grants, donations, and fundraising. The council approved prior meeting minutes and elected a chair, neither of which involved procurement.
