The Three Rivers School District Board held a work session on October 5, 2026, focused primarily on the district’s student opt-out process and related parental-rights policies. Staff described the process for reviewing curriculum and opting students out, including notices, online materials, and alternative lessons. Board members debated whether parents have enough information to make informed choices and discussed possible revisions to policies IGBHD and related parental-rights language, including clarifying parents’ rights, covered instructional materials and surveys, and how opt-outs and alternative work would be handled. The policies were expected to return for a first reading at a future meeting; no policy changes were adopted at this work session.
The board also discussed a county court-based approach to improving school attendance, a possible board training convention in Portland, and the National School Boards Association’s 2026 advocacy priorities. The board approved the work-session agenda. No contracts, bids, vendor selections, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified.
