The City of Longmont Council and Boulder County Commissioners held a joint meeting on September 21, 2026. Discussion of the First and Main redevelopment focused on coordinating a series of construction projects and their financing. The city reported that the TIF agreement with Boulder County was complete and that issuing debt for the parking structure was part of the next operational phase. Work was underway or scheduled on the parking structure, Kaufman Street sewer and drainage, a BRT-related project expected to go out to bid later in 2026, the Pratt Street Bridge, and later phases including Front Range Community College, the parking-garage wrap, and a rail platform. A community open house was anticipated for mid-October, with a groundbreaking scheduled for October 9. No contract awards or spending motions were made.

The commissioners and council also discussed fairgrounds planning and deferred maintenance, including roof and infrastructure needs; the county said its existing master plan was aspirational and not fiscally constrained, with no major redevelopment currently planned. On behavioral and mental health funding, officials described grant programs and a $4.1 million RFP round, including $1.1 million for prevention, community supports, and training; that round had closed August 27, with another grant window anticipated around summer 2027 and a residential step-down services RFP under consideration. Affordable-housing funding and possible support for public employees pursuing homeownership were discussed, as was a potential joint airport governance model, but neither topic resulted in a decision. No votes or formal procurement approvals were identified.
