Monongalia County Commission regular meeting September 30, 2026

The Monongalia County Commission’s regular meeting on September 30, 2026, included approval of the consent agenda and several administrative items. For procurement, commissioners approved an invitation to bid for renovations to the Monongalia County Health Department’s future space in White Birch Tower 2; the bid opening and a later contract award are expected. They also approved the renewal memorandum of agreement with the Department of the Army for lock operations on the Upper Mon River. The commission approved an emergency change of voting location for Precinct 30 because of construction at its current site. No grant items were presented.

Public comments focused extensively on the county’s existing Flock Safety automated license plate reader contract. Speakers urged the commission to cancel it and raised concerns about surveillance, data use and retention, cybersecurity, and contract terms. One speaker cited a previously approved use of up to $180,000 in opioid settlement funds for 20 cameras. The commission took no action on the Flock contract during this meeting. Employees were also told that next year’s health insurance allowance figures were still being developed and were not final.
