The Englewood Transportation Advisory Committee meeting, titled July 16, 2026, reviewed transportation projects and funding priorities. The committee discussed an estimated design cost of slightly over $500,000 to advance a segment of the Rail Trail from 30% to 100% design, against an estimated construction cost of just over $7 million. Staff said the existing design work is under contract but the next phase has not been signed, and other firms were unwilling to provide firm comparison prices while the current arrangement remained in place. The estimate includes items such as $40,000 for pedestrian lighting and $17,000 for grant-application support. Members questioned the cost, parking impacts, and project priority, and suggested considering lower-cost interim bike-lane options and additional grant opportunities. No decision or procurement vote was taken on the Rail Trail design; staff will bring back further consideration of project priorities and funding.

Staff reported that East Dartmouth roundabout and traffic-calming work is estimated at about $2.4 million, with partial funding through the Highway Safety Improvement Program; design coordination with RTD remains underway, and construction is tentatively targeted for winter 2026 through 2027. The committee also reviewed Walk and Wheel Plan priorities, noting limited 2027 public-improvement funding and approximately $480,000 discussed as available for walk-and-wheel projects, as well as a proposed $250,000 annual starting budget for the traffic-calming program; staff estimated two sets of speed cushions at about $20,000. Members emphasized implementing high-priority neighborhood safety projects rather than allocating more funding to planning alone. The committee approved the prior meeting minutes with corrections; no contract award or bid approval occurred.
