Englewood Transportation Advisory Committee Meeting April, 16 2024

The Englewood Transportation Advisory Committee reviewed the City of Englewood Public Works’ proposed five-year capital project priorities at its April 16, 2024 meeting. Staff said the department was seeking about $3.5 million, within a citywide capital-improvement funding pool of roughly $4 million. Proposed Tier 1 items included $300,000 for signal equipment upgrades, $500,000 for bridge repairs, $100,000 for a neighborhood traffic-calming program and $250,000 to implement traffic-calming measures, and $500,000 for street reconstruction. Other ongoing requests included alley maintenance and pavement maintenance. Staff explained that pavement work also receives about $2 million annually from a sales tax. The committee supported moving the Walk and Wheel Plan implementation and a citywide transportation plan from Tier 2 to Tier 1; members discussed reducing other line items to stay within the funding limit, but the transcript does not establish a final revised budget or record a final vote on the full priority list.

The committee also discussed a selected consultant for an ADA transition plan that will survey sidewalk ramps; the proposal was slightly over the anticipated budget, and staff planned to discuss the funding gap with Finance. Two Dartmouth traffic circles/roundabouts are planned with CDOT grant support and additional funding, after a third was removed partly for budget reasons. Staff described competitive bidding for signal work and cited higher steel and labor costs. No contract award or vendor name was announced; the capital priorities were to be summarized in a memo for Finance’s budget discussions.
