At its September 29, 2026 special meeting, the Beaumont City Council approved the 2026 property tax rate of $0.682933 per $100 of valuation, comprising $0.468759 for the general fund and $0.214174 for debt service. The votes passed despite opposition. Council discussed the rate’s relationship to the FY2027 budget and the separate approvals required by state law.

Council also approved a three-year emergency products, services, and debris-removal contract, with two possible one-year extensions and vendors designated as primary, secondary, and tertiary: DRC Emergency Services LLC of Galveston, Texas; CTC Disaster Response of Fayette, Missouri; and Ceres Environmental Services of Sarasota, Florida. Separately, it approved up to $75,000 from the solid waste fund to rent roll-off dumpster trucks and drivers from DRC to accelerate cleanup after Tropical Storm Edward. Members discussed the timing and public communication of debris removal and the uncertainty of federal or state reimbursement; staff said it would return to council if additional resources were needed.
