At the Cleveland City Council Development, Planning and Sustainability Committee meeting on September 29, 2026, members approved Ordinance 1034-2026, authorizing a lease of the Collinwood Community Center at 813 East 152nd Street to Famicos Foundation for $1 per year, for two years with a two-year renewal option. Famicos operates eight community programs there, including senior, meal, health-care, and youth programs. The city has repair funds budgeted for the building, and the lease does not prevent further city maintenance or upgrades. Members also approved Ordinance 921-2026, as amended, vacating specified streets to enable redevelopment of an approximately 30-acre site for semi-industrial use and job creation; no developer or project budget was identified.

The committee also approved Ordinance 927-2026, authorizing a property exchange with Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) connected to the new Glenville High School and other school and city redevelopment plans. The exchange includes city property for school purposes and CMSD’s Newton D. Baker School property for future city redevelopment. Demolition planning is underway: the city is pursuing grant funding, with a bond-funded match anticipated if needed, and demolition of the two vacant school buildings discussed was estimated at $1.3 million to $1.5 million. The Jay Glenn Health Center building is also expected to be demolished in connection with the school project, with the city responsible for its share of costs; no amount was provided. CMSD’s board had already approved the land swap, and the city’s capital plan and grant decisions remain relevant to the timing and funding of the work.
