The Monroe County Legislature’s Public Safety Committee met on September 29, 2026. The committee approved Referral 26-0290, authorizing a contract with Alliance for Hope International for specialized services; the transcript cuts off before specifying the service or contract amount. It also approved an intermunicipal agreement with the City of Rochester to accept pass-through U.S. Department of Justice funding through the 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program. No funding amount was stated for that agreement.

The committee approved amending the 2026–2031 Capital Improvement Program and 2026 capital budget to add and finance restoration of the Sheriff’s Mounted Unit horse barn. Members discussed a $250,000 figure and requested an itemized work list. The administration said some work would be competitively bid and some performed under existing county term contracts; it also said no additional net county support was required in the current year. During public comment, a speaker raised concerns about the county’s Prime Care contract and its upcoming renewal in connection with a jail death, but no committee action on that contract was recorded.
