🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure 🚨 Public Safety Physical Infrastructure Grants & Funding

Klamath County Board of County Commissioners business meeting, September 29, 2026. The board unanimously approved several sheriff’s office funding and equipment items: Oregon Impact transportation-safety grants for DUI ($3,500), distracted-driving ($2,000), speed ($2,000), and seat-belt enforcement ($2,500), with agreements through September 30, 2027; use of a Kingsley Fire Department/Air Force dive-rescue trailer valued at $2,500 at no charge; and reapplication for an Oregon State Parks and Recreation grant for youth ATV safety instruction for July 2027–June 2029, with a 20% match already budgeted. The board also approved a standard-form consignment agreement for the county’s annual surplus auction with Depre Auctioneers LLC, with no fiscal impact; property valued above $10,000 will still come before the board for surplus consideration. The juvenile department presented an MOU with the Oregon Youth Authority and described state funding as nearly half of its annual support, but the transcript does not capture the board’s final action on that item.

The meeting also addressed Amendment 1 to Modoc Contracting Company’s agreement for the Klamath County Library community courtyard project, supported by a $715,000 Oregon Parks and Recreation grant. The amendment concerns the construction-phase guaranteed maximum price, but the amount and board action are cut off in the transcript. Commissioners approved staggered quarterly expiration dates for advisory committee terms. Public comments focused largely on voter-registration and election administration concerns; commissioners said they had not yet discussed the requested resolution and noted that elections are administered by the county clerk. No procurement action was identified in that discussion.
