City Council Meeting- September 28 2026

At the September 28, 2026 City Council meeting of the City of Anderson, South Carolina, council approved on first reading an ordinance authorizing an equipment lease-purchase agreement of up to $2.5 million to finance previously approved fire equipment purchases. The purchases are two custom-built Pierce fire trucks, currently in manufacturing and expected for delivery in November or December 2026. The city issued financing RFPs on September 17, with bank bids due October 7; the final debt-service amount will be presented at the next meeting. Debt service is planned from the general fund, with the first payment expected in November 2027. The motion passed unanimously.

Council also unanimously referred two land-use matters to the Planning Commission: a rezoning request to permit a storage facility and warehouse, and annexation and suburban-residential zoning for a proposed 31.5-acre single-family development using conservation design. A proposed ordinance restricting storage or parking of boats, trailers, campers, and similar vehicles on public streets passed first reading. Council asked staff to refine language before second reading, including provisions on paved or improved parking surfaces and temporary loading or unloading; no procurement action was identified in those items.
