At its September 29, 2026 regular meeting, the Medford City Council approved three stabilization-fund appropriations: $1.3 million for resurfacing 23 streets, $1 million to replace the turf at Hormel Stadium, and $40,000 for the Medford Connects outreach program. The street work is expected to be contracted out and likely begin in spring 2027; the city engineer clarified that work on several listed streets is limited to public portions. The turf replacement was described as timely because the existing field is in its twelfth year and may be relied on during potential high-school construction. The $40,000 would increase weekly capacity for Medford Connects after the program did not receive a state grant. The council also approved a National Grid/Verizon pole-location petition subject to engineering conditions and a food-truck permit for Trolley Dogs at Brooks Elementary’s Fall Fest.

The council referred a draft RFP for a zoning consultant to the Committee of the Whole for further public discussion; no consultant was selected. A $35,000 request for a police-chief search and recruitment firm was tabled pending a requested committee meeting with the search firm. The council approved an amendment allowing fractional payments to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund when inclusionary-housing calculations yield less than half a unit, potentially affecting future development proposals. It also approved one additional month of law-department funding while seeking further information and an independent review of legal expenditures. Other discussion included support for striking Encore workers, neighborhood meetings, election preparedness, and city website improvements; no additional procurement awards were identified.
