The Canal Winchester Local Schools Board of Education held its regular meeting on October 12, 2026. The treasurer reported that approximately $22 million is invested in the performing arts center (PAC) and athletic complex project, with cash spending expected to increase over the next 12 months as construction proceeds. The softball and baseball fields were taking shape, and turf was expected later in October. The district also reported a delayed Franklin County property-tax settlement and noted rising bus-fuel costs that may require a budget increase. The board unanimously approved employee insurance rates for January 1–December 31, 2027: health rates increase 3.1% and dental rates 8.3%. A motion and second were recorded for a December health-insurance premium holiday for eligible employees, but the transcript ends before the vote is reported. No contract awards, competitive solicitations, or vendor selections were identified.
Other discussion focused on the district report card, early-literacy interventions, and the first-year update on the gifted-services delivery model. The superintendent also described an expanded Handle with Care partnership with local first responders. The board approved the consent agenda, including personnel items and donations; no procurement action was reported in that vote.
