The September 29, 2026 regular meeting of the Lake Worth Beach City Commission proceeded with three commissioners present. Procurement and spending approvals included an amendment to Chen Moore and Associates’ owner-representation task order, with roughly $80,000 discussed for continued services on the K Street garage, relocation of 17 South M, the Gulfstream Hotel, and the Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts; the scope was amended to include those projects and other related projects as directed by the commission. The commission also approved purchases of water-meter encoders from Avante and Badger meters through Utility Solutions and Automations LLC; a WESCO change order to Purchase Order 200765 for medium-voltage EPR 28 kV feeder cable; task orders with Entercon Services Inc. and TeamworkNet Inc.; an amendment to the HH Promenade LLC lease for staff office and utility customer-service space; FY2026 budget amendment No. 13 for contractual services and purchased power; and an engine replacement and related repairs for Solid Waste Truck Unit 163. These items passed by unanimous votes of the three-member quorum. One other new-business item was removed and deferred to a later October meeting to allow staff more review time.

The commission also received electric and water utility updates. Staff reported pressure on the electric utility’s power-cost-adjustment balance from high natural-gas transportation costs and discussed the city’s generation mix and longer-term carbon-reduction goals. Water staff reported ongoing stormwater and sewer problems, including a recent sewage spill; a contractor was expected to begin South Palm Park sewer-line cleaning in early October, and staff will review flooding at the Eden Place project and longer-term resilience needs. Commissioners discussed the city’s Green and Clean enforcement and public outreach, including requesting staff recommendations on communication and possible fee or credit changes; no change to the fee schedule was adopted. No vote was taken on the proposed tree work associated with moving 17 South M, and the commission directed staff not to cut or trim trees pending further discussion.
