Second Budget Hearing

The City of Coral Gables held its final FY2026–27 budget hearing on September 29, 2026, adopting a balanced $433,309,230 budget, the capital improvement program for FY2027–31, and a millage rate of 5.5590 mills—6.94% above the rollback rate. The budget includes $110 million in proceeds from previously approved bonds: $40 million for the City Hall project and $70 million for the Mobility Hub. The commission approved a one-year $500,000 contribution toward the Underline’s maintenance and operations, with the manager directed to reduce capital-project funding by that amount. The budget ordinance passed 4–1, and the capital plan passed unanimously. No vendor selections, bids, or contract awards were identified.

The commission also approved a $75 garbage-fee refund per household and renewed the Senior Relief and Veterans with Disabilities grant programs, using current-year funds; the related resolution passed unanimously. The hearing included discussion of pension contributions, possible effects of a millage reduction on the city’s AAA bond rating, and the impact of the approved relief measures and Underline funding on future capital projects. The commission adopted the proposed millage rate on a 4–1 vote.
