September 29, 2026 Board of Supervisors Meeting

At the September 29, 2026 Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board unanimously authorized Dominion Energy’s electrical relocation project at the landfill and appropriated $38,303.54 from the landfill construction fund. The work will move specified power lines underground in preparation for future landfill operations and related scale-house and road work; staff said getting on Dominion’s schedule takes about six weeks. Supervisors discussed the pole removals and how the scale house will receive power before approving the motion. No vendor award or other procurement decision was recorded.

The board also received the Virginia Fire Services Board’s fire and EMS study and recommendations; the presentation was informational, and the board did not vote to adopt the recommendations. Proposed measures with potential budget or procurement implications included developing a capital improvement plan, assessing and coordinating replacement and maintenance of fire and EMS vehicles, setting baseline equipment specifications, considering shared apparatus, and establishing a training fund. Other recommendations addressed county fire and EMS governance, staffing, training, dispatch coordination, and funding. No related expenditures or contracts were approved.
