The October 1, 2026 Bloomington Planning Commission meeting considered a conditional use permit for remote airport parking at 3601 American Boulevard East. The commission adopted a resolution approving up to 490 parking stalls in the existing structure, subject to listed conditions, including completing structural repairs and inspections and bringing lighting into compliance before operations begin. The applicant, Kading Development, reported spending many millions of dollars on renovations, but no city contract or procurement action was discussed. The approval is a final Planning Commission decision, with an appeal deadline stated as October 5 at 4:30 p.m.
As a study item, the commission reviewed possible changes to zoning definitions and allowances for fitness, sports training, and indoor recreation uses, particularly in industrial districts. Commissioners discussed industrial-land preservation, facility size and location limits, traffic and drop-off concerns, lighting, and safety signage; staff will continue evaluating the feedback. The commission also approved the September 17 meeting synopsis. A capital improvement plan review was previewed for a future meeting, but no funding or purchasing decisions were made. No procurement activity was identified at this meeting.
